Karnataka Budget 2026 Pitches Mysuru as Second IT City After Bengaluru

In a landmark move, the Karnataka government has proposed positioning Mysuru as the state’s second major IT city after Bengaluru. Announced during the Budget for FY27 by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, this initiative aims to expand the technology sector beyond the state capital and create new growth centres for the industry.

The government plans to develop robust infrastructure and policy support to encourage technology companies to set up operations in Mysuru. The city, located just 140 km from Bengaluru, has already seen steady growth in its technology workforce and hosts delivery centres of several IT companies.
